Islamabad: Amb. Waheed Ahmad, a former diplomat, has emphasized the critical timing of the Arab-Islamic Summit, which saw participation from almost all Islamic countries. The summit was convened following what Ahmad describes as unjustified Israeli strikes on Doha. The presence of numerous leaders at the summit underscores the significance of solidarity with Qatar and serves as a clear message to Israel’s sponsors.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmad anticipates a strong condemnation of Israel in the joint communiqu© and an announcement to support Qatar against Israel. This move aims to send a message to Israel’s supporters that such actions could weaken their ties with the entire Muslim world. Ahmad also referenced the ongoing turmoil resulting from unresolved conflicts and disputes, recalling a statement by President Xi Jinping at a recent SCO summit. Jinping spoke about a potential new global mechanism for dispute resolution under the United Nations, which has garnered significant global attention.
Ahmad pointed out that the United States must end Israeli aggression against Palestinians and neighboring countries to maintain its influence in the Middle East. Otherwise, China and Russia are actively attracting countries from the global south to their alliances, marking a significant development on the international stage.
