Analyst Hails Prime Minister Shehbaz for Expressing Solidarity with Qatar Against Israeli Strikes

Doha: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Qatar has been highlighted as a significant diplomatic move amid rising tensions in the Middle East. His visit underscores the enduring and strategic relationship between Pakistan and Qatar, particularly in the energy sector, where both nations have deep trade cooperation.

According to Radio Pakistan, Defence Analyst AVM (R) Ijaz Malik emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s diplomatic presence in Qatar during this period. Qatar has historically acted as a mediator in the Middle East and has played a notable role in negotiations, such as facilitating discussions between the US, ISAF forces, and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Malik noted that the timing of Prime Minister Shehbaz’s visit was crucial, especially after the recent violation of Qatari airspace by Israel, which targeted a peace mission by Hamas.

Malik expressed concerns about Israel’s actions, suggesting that the nation is pursuing an agenda of expansion with the backing of the United States, due
to the influence of the Zionist lobby. He remarked that there seems to be little hope for peace in the region, as US policies appear to align with Israeli interests, undermining efforts for a fair resolution. The international community’s continued silence on these issues was criticized as a severe form of negligence.

The visit by Pakistan’s Prime Minister is seen as a statement of solidarity with Qatar and a reinforcement of Pakistan’s role as a key player among Muslim nations, given its status as the only nuclear power in the Muslim world.
