Doha: Prime Minister of Nuclear Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif visited Doha to show solidarity and assured Qatari leadership that Pakistan stood shoulder to shoulder with the Qatari government and people in this hard time. He also assured that Pakistan would leave no stone unturned to ensure the peace and security of Qatar.
According to Radio Pakistan, Abdullah Hamid Gul, a defense analyst, expressed concerns over Qatar being deceived by the US, as Iranian missiles aimed at Israel were neutralized by the US defense system purchased by Qatar. Despite Qatar’s substantial defense spending of nearly $15 billion annually, Gul questioned why the US did not intercept Israeli aggression. He highlighted the presence of the largest US base in Qatar and raised questions about the satellite system’s effectiveness and the unharmed return of Israeli fighter jets. Arab media has blamed the US and UK for refueling Israeli jets, enabling their safe return to Israel.
Gul further elaborated that in the current geopolitical climate, Arab countries, including Doha, are looking towards Pakistan for security, especially following Pakistan’s response to India. He noted that the world views Pakistan as a potential security provider to the region. The recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who declared Pakistan’s nuclear program a threat to Israel, have added tension. Netanyahu also expressed that both Iran and Pakistan should not possess nuclear capabilities.
In light of these developments, the Arab world is reconsidering the effectiveness of the 21 US bases in the region and is contemplating a security partnership with Pakistan. This topic is expected to be on the agenda at the upcoming Arab League Summit. Gul stressed that Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries frequently face threats from Israel, which pursues the Greater Israel agenda, allegedly with US support.
Gul pointed out that the ongoing global shifts, led by China and its allies, are creating a multipolar world order. He emphasized that Pakistan has a crucial role to play in this evolving scenario. He condemned Israel’s recent attack on Qatar, a peaceful nation, and highlighted Qatar’s past efforts in mediating the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas. The analyst criticized the UNGA’s two-state solution resolution, deeming it one-sided, as Palestinian committee members were reportedly barred from attending sessions by the US.
Finally, Gul reflected on Qatar’s history as the site of the Doha Accord, which facilitated the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, with significant input from Pakistan.
