Islamabad: Pakistan accords high priority to its ties with all the Central Asian Republics (CARs), especially Kyrgyzstan which is its next-door neighbor. The two nations share cultural, religious, and many other common values. Both Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are developing nations with a strong influence in the Kyrgyz Republic due to a significant number of Pakistani students pursuing medical education there.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan offers scholarships to students from Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian republics. However, language barriers have hindered students from these regions from fully benefiting from these opportunities. Business prospects between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are expected to improve once the situation in Afghanistan stabilizes, although there are currently many challenges.
The CASA project is seen as a significant initiative for regional connectivity and prosperity and is anticipated to be a regional game-changer. However, the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan is currently hampering trade and business activities between Pakistan and the Central Asian Republics.
