Islamabad: Pakistan and Azerbaijan continue to enjoy a cordial and historical relationship, marked by mutual support on significant geopolitical issues. Pakistan’s involvement in Azerbaijan’s treaty with Armenia over the Karabakh issue underscores the strength of this alliance. As a testament to these ties, Azerbaijan has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the fifth Victory Day commemorations, which mark Azerbaijan’s significant win in the forty-four-day Karabakh Liberation War against Armenia.
According to Radio Pakistan, Azerbaijan has consistently supported Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. The ongoing human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir remain a significant concern, with Azerbaijan advocating for a peaceful resolution aligned with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. This support highlights the need for Pakistan to garner more backing from the international community to press India for a resolution on this matter.
Furthermore, the potential for economic collaboration between the two nations is significant. Azerbaijan’s investors are encouraged to explore opportunities within Pakistan, particularly in the energy and other economic sectors. By offering a conducive investment environment, appropriate taxation, and necessary facilitation, Pakistan aims to attract Azerbaijani investments, thereby strengthening the economic ties between the two countries.
