Analyst Criticizes India for Alleged Forced Conversions Under Hindutva Doctrine

Islamabad: Dr. Muhammad Khan, an expert in international relations, has expressed concerns over India’s treatment of minorities, particularly Muslims, under the Hindutva doctrine. He emphasized the need for resolving the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

According to Radio Pakistan, a recent UN fact-finding report has highlighted that India is carrying out unprecedented atrocities against Kashmiri civilians in IIOJK. The report outlines that these activities, ongoing since the early 1990s, have intensified following the Pahalgam false flag operation. In the aftermath of this operation, India reportedly attempted an attack on Pakistan, only to face defeat by Pakistani forces. Consequently, India is now said to be adopting new strategies, including low-intensity operations labeled as counter-terrorism efforts in IIOJK. The lack of media access to this heavily militarized area has resulted in a media blackout, limiting the world’s understanding of the alleged human rights violations occurring there.

The report further notes India’s efforts to alter the demographic landscape in IIOJK by displacing Muslims from majority areas and targeting Kashmiri youth in fake encounters. Beyond IIOJK, the Hindutva doctrine is reportedly leading to the forced conversion of Muslims and other minorities to Hinduism, a violation of the UN charter. Reports of minorities in India facing torture, harassment, and religious discrimination are surfacing, with the inauguration of a Hindu temple on the site of the Babri Masjid by Narendra Modi in 2025 cited as a particularly egregious incident. Despite these developments, international response has been limited to expressions of concern, with no concrete action taken against India.
