Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on Essential and Cash Crops has announced that ample stocks of wheat are available to meet the country’s requirements for the Food Year 2025-26. The committee disclosed this information during a meeting held in Islamabad, with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar presiding over the session.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting focused on the current status of the wheat crop, its available stocks, and strategies to improve its per acre yield. Provincial representatives shared data regarding the sowing of the wheat crop for the Rabi season 2025-26, which was found to be in line with the assigned targets. This alignment is credited to the timely introduction of the Interim National Wheat Policy 2025-26, which has fostered a positive sentiment and confidence among the farming community.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar expressed satisfaction with the smooth availability of certified seed and key inputs, commending the collective efforts toward achieving wheat self-sufficiency. He encouraged all stakeholders to focus on enhancing wheat varieties and emphasized the importance of sustained federal and provincial coordination to ensure national food security in the years to come.
