Islamabad: Minister for Communication Abdul Aleem Khan has announced plans to introduce an air ambulance service on all highways across the country next year to provide first aid to the injured and to shift them to nearby hospitals. He made this announcement while responding to a question during Question Hour in the Senate today.
According to Radio Pakistan, this initiative will ensure timely shifting of patients and injured individuals, traveling through national highways, to medical facilities in case of accidents and health emergencies. Abdul Aleem Khan further stated that the Pakistan Expressway from Karachi to Chaman is expected to be completed within two years. The government has released funds for this project, and its contract has been awarded to the Frontier Works Organization.
The Minister also informed the House that the Lyari Expressway is being constructed in accordance with international standards. Additionally, he mentioned that the government is constructing the Karachi-Hyderabad motorway, which will eventually be extended to Sukkur. Abdul Aleem Khan expressed the National Highway Authority’s willingness to build all tourism roads if the concerned provincial government tenders a request in this regard.
In a related development, Deputy Chairman Syedaal Khan emphasized that no one would be allowed to malign state institutions, national heroes, and political leaders in the House. He affirmed that the proceedings of the Senate would be conducted according to rules and law, ensuring that a minority cannot hold the House hostage. The proceedings of the House have now been adjourned until 10:30 tomorrow morning.
