Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has urged both the private and public sectors to join hands in transforming Pakistan into an export-led growth economy. He addressed a news conference at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Islamabad, emphasizing the strategic shift needed to enhance Pakistan's economic landscape.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister outlined an ambitious goal to increase Pakistan's exports to over 100 billion dollars by 2035, with an interim target of 60 billion dollars by 2030. Highlighting the composition of the export sector, he noted that it comprises around twenty fields, suggesting that substantial growth is achievable through value addition in these sectors.
Ahsan Iqbal further stressed the importance of developing a district-based development plan across the nation. Under this strategy, exports can be enhanced through a high-value chain approach, which he believes is crucial for achieving the set export targets. The collaboration between private and public sectors is seen as vital to realizing this vision and ensuring sustainable economic growth for Pakistan.
