Afghanistan’s Crucial Choice Between Fitna al-Khawarij and Pakistan: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s Address

Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has emphasized that Afghanistan will need to choose between Fitna al-Khawarij and its relationship with Pakistan. He made this statement while addressing the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference held in Islamabad earlier this month.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Field Marshal discussed the significant challenges facing the country, including terrorism and national security. He pointed out that a majority of Fitna al-Khawarij’s formations, approximately seventy percent, are composed of Afghan nationals. The Field Marshal expressed concern over innocent civilians, including children, being targeted through terrorist activities with backing from the Afghan Taliban.

In his speech, the Field Marshal touched upon various critical issues such as Pakistan’s emerging role in global affairs, war preparedness, and the importance of knowledge. He referenced verses from the Holy Qur’an and the poetry of Allama Iqbal to illustrate his viewpoint about Pakistan’s unique position. He stated that Pakistan, among Islamic countries, has the honor of being the protector of the Haramain, drawing parallels between the State of Tayyaba and Pakistan, both of which were founded on the principles of Kalima Tayyaba during Ramadan.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir recounted the divine assistance witnessed during Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos and emphasized the exclusive authority of the state in an Islamic country to issue orders or religious decrees for jihad. He concluded by highlighting the risk nations face when they neglect the intellectual and scholarly achievements of their ancestors, stressing that such neglect can lead to decline.
