ABU Media & Culture Days Conference Begins in Colombo


Colombo: The “ABU Media and Culture Days” Conference commenced in Colombo, Sri Lanka, bringing together media professionals, policymakers, and experts from across the Asia-Pacific region. The two-day event focuses on assessing the opportunities and potential risks associated with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in media.



According to Radio Pakistan, the conference aims to explore how AI technologies are reshaping content creation, journalism ethics, and audience engagement across digital platforms. The event features keynote addresses and expert presentations from representatives of ABU member states, followed by panel discussions involving media practitioners, legal experts, and technology specialists.



These sessions will examine how broadcasters and news organizations can adopt AI responsibly while maintaining editorial integrity and public trust. Pakistan is being represented at the conference by Director General of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), Mr. Saeed Ahmed Shaikh.



The event is co-hosted by ABU, Radio Romania, and two major Sri Lankan media groups, MTV and CMG. It reflects a growing commitment among regional broadcasters to collaborate on understanding emerging technologies and developing shared frameworks for ethical media innovation.
