46,000 Trees Planted in Islamabad: Senate Informed

Islamabad: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry informed the Senate that the government has planted forty-six thousand trees in Islamabad, with further plantation activities underway. This announcement was made in response to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Senator Ali Zafar. The Minister also mentioned that twenty-six thousand paper mulberry trees have been cut in the federal capital due to their major role in spreading pollen allergy. The cutting was conducted following the directives of a commission constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister clarified that all roads and sectors in the federal capital are being developed according to Islamabad's master plan, asserting that no road is being built to cater to individual interests. In the same session, Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs, Senator Rana Sanaullah, emphasized resolving issues through dialogue and institutional mechanisms instead of political confrontation. He highlighted that focusing on past controversies would not aid the country's progress.

At the beginning of the session, Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani announced Senator Raja Nasir Abbas as the new Leader of the Opposition, following the disqualification of former Senator Syed Shibli Faraz by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
