The 7th Digital China Summit Held in Fuzhou in Southeastern China’s Fujian Province with Fruitful Achievements

The 7th Digital China Summit took place in Fuzhou in southeastern China’s Fujian Province, on May 24-25, 2024. This grand event was co-hosted by National Development and Reform Commission, National Data Administration, Cyberspace Administration of China, Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, and organized by the Fuzhou Municipal Government and associated units.

This year, DCS, the first held after the optimization and adjustment of the national data system, was themed “Unlocking the Value of Data Elements and Developing New Quality Productivity”. Representatives from diverse fields discussed new technologies, models, and business innovations, setting a trend for observing China in the digital era.

A total of 421 digital economy projects were signed at this summit, with a total investment of 203 billion yuan. These projects span digital industry, digital transformation, and new infrastructure, aiming to building a quality digital economy industrial chain, and bringing new momentum to Fujian’s digital economy.

During the summit, a series of new digital technologies and products were unveiled, and 13 sub-forums were successfully held, covering topics of data resources and digital security, digital economy, and digital government service, etc.

This year’s DCS also saw the release of the Report on Digital China Development (2023), showing China’s steady growth in digital economy in 2023, with the core industries’ added value comprising 10% of GDP. Besides, the data factor market is becoming increasingly active, with the total data production reached 32.85 ZB (one ZB equals ten trillion billion bytes) in 2023, marking a 22.44% year-on-year increase. Additionally, China’s digital infrastructure has expanded, with total arithmetic power reaching 230 EFLOPS, ranking second globally.

The DCS has been successfully held for seven consecutive years since 2018.

Death anniversary of film actress Rani observed

The thirty-first death anniversary of renowned film actress Nasira Begum known as Rani was observed on Monday. Born on December 8, 1946 in Lahore, Rani made her screen debut in the film Mehboob in 1962. She remained one of the most successful actresses in Pakistan and acted in both Urdu and Punjabi films. Some of notable films of Rani include Dewar Bhabhi, Hazar Dastan, Dil Mera Dharkan Teri, Anjuman, Tehzeeb, Umrao Jan Ada, Diya Aur Toofan, and Baharo Phool Barsao. She won a Nigar Award for the film 'Mera Ghar Meri Jannat' in 1968. She also won another Nigar Award for best actress for her role in the film 'Sona Chandi' in 1986. Pakistan’s satellite MM1 set to be launched on May 30

After the successful launch of Satellite ICUBE Qamar, Pakistan's latest modern Communication Satellite, MM1 will be launched into space on Thursday. The satellite PAKSAT MM1 would be launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC), China. The SUPARCO MM1 Satellite is a result of the tireless efforts of Pakistani scientists and engineers and it is conceived keeping in sight the growing needs of the country in the broad spectrum of communication and connectivity. PM praises security forces’ operations in different districts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended the officers and jawans of the security forces for carrying out successful operations against terrorists in Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and Khyber districts. In a statement today, he also presented a tribute to five soldiers of the Pakistan Army namely Sepoy Taimoor Shaheed, Sepoy Nadir Sagheer Shaheed, Sepoy Muhammad Yaseen Shaheed, Lance Naik Syed Danish Afkar Shaheed, and Naik Ashfaq Butt Shaheed for embracing martyrdom during an operation in Bagh area of Khyber district. Praying the Allah Almighty to grant the departed souls higher status in heave and commiserating with the bereaved families, the Prime Minister said the security forces conducted the operation without caring for their lives to eliminate terrorists. Shehbaz Sharif expressed the resolve to continue the war till the complete elimination of the scourge of terrorism from the country.
