PM arrives in Dasu, Kohistan


Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Dasu, Kohistan.

He is accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong.

The Prime Minister will meet the engineers of the Chinese company working on the Dasu Dam project. He will express his condolences and solidarity with the Chinese engineers and workers over the recent terrorist attack on the Chinese nationals in Bisham.

After the terrorist incident in Bisham, the Prime Minister gave clear directions for immediate measures to further enhance the security of the Chinese nationals.

The Prime Minister will also talk to Chinese engineers and workers on the occasion.

WB, IFC express continued support for Pakistan’s development agendas


World Bank and International Finance Corporation have expressed their continued support for the Pakistan’s development goals and agendas for the welfare of the people.

This was expressed by organizations’ delegates including Country Director WB Najy Benhassine and Country Manager of the IFC Zeeshan Ahmed Sheikh during their meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad today.

They discussed the collaborative development strategies and initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, enhancing financial stability, and fostering sustainable development within the country.

During the meeting, the importance of strengthening partnerships with international financial institutions like IFC and WB was highlighted.

The Minister also highlighted the Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for private sector investment and ensuring transparency and accountability in financial matters.

Respective representatives from WB and IFC appreciated the efforts of the Government aimed at br
inging reforms in economic and financial sectors to ensure sustained economic growth in terms of expanding the tax base, SOEs restructuring, and Privatization.

They also discussed potential areas of cooperation and investment opportunities in various sectors, including agriculture, power sector, and IT.

Wreath laying ceremony held at Nur Khan Airbase for five Chinese who died in terror incident


A wreath laying ceremony was held at Nur Khan Airbase for the five Chinese nationals who died in a recent terror incident.

On behalf of the President, the Prime Minister, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Air Staff, floral wreaths were placed at the base.

Silence for thirty seconds was observed in honor of the deceased.

In a statement, the government once again strongly condemned the Bisham terrorist incident and expressed the firm resolve to bring the terrorists and their facilitators to justice.

28th death anniversary of film lyricist Masroor Anwar observed


Renowned Pakistani Film Lyricist Masroor Anwar’s twenty-eighth death anniversary was observed on Monday.

Born in 1944 in Simla, Masroor Anwar was one of the most prominent lyricists of the Pakistani film industry from 1962 to 1990. He wrote songs for successful films including Heera Aur Pathar, Arman, Doraha, Saiqa, Anjuman, Pehchan, Qurbani, Saughat and Bulandi.

In the early 70’s, he also wrote some of the most memorable patriotic numbers such as Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhay, Apni Jaan Nazar Karoon, Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna and Jug Jug Jiye Mera Pyara Watan.

He died on this day in 1996 in Lahore. Anwar was posthumously awarded with the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan.
