1100 Pakistani Students Return from Afghanistan Amid Border Closure

Islamabad: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has announced that 1,100 Pakistani students have returned from Afghanistan after the border between the two countries was closed in October last year. The return was primarily facilitated through aerial routes.

According to Radio Pakistan, while addressing a Calling Attention Notice in the National Assembly, Chaudhary confirmed that 947 students remain in Jalalabad and Kabul, where they continue their education. He emphasized that these students are not stranded at the border and assured that the Pakistani embassy in Afghanistan is providing comprehensive support to them.

Chaudhary also raised concerns about terrorism, pointing out that Afghan authorities have not guaranteed that their land will not be used for activities against Pakistan. This issue remains a significant point of contention between the two countries.

In addition to discussing the students, three bills were presented before the House. These included The Trade Organizations (Third Amendment) Bill, 2026, The Prohibition of Manual Scavenging and Protection of Sanitation Workers (ICT) Bill, 2026, and The Railway Connectivity and Modernisation Bill, 2026. These bills have been referred to the relevant standing committees for further consideration.

Moreover, the Capital Development Authority Bill, 2026, was also introduced in the House. The session concluded with the announcement that the House will reconvene tomorrow at 11 am.
