Islamabad: World Cities Day was observed on Friday. It aims to raise international awareness of urbanization trends, challenges, and visions for sustainable urban development.

According to Radio Pakistan, the theme of this year is: People Centered Smart Cities. Talking to Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel, Director General Urban Planning CDA Zafar Iqbal mentioned that fifty-eight percent of the world population resides in cities. He emphasized that sustainable cities are the ones which prioritize development keeping in view the requirements of future generations.
