UNA participates in media coverage of 29th Arab Summit in Dhahran

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) � The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (UNA-OIC) countries is taking part in media coverage of the 29th Arab Summit kicked off Sunday at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in the eastern Saudi city of Dhahran.

UNA Director General Issa Khaireh Robleh underlined the Union's keenness to participate in the coverage of the proceedings of this summit, being held under the chair of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, in the attendance of a large number of heads of state and leaders of Arab countries. Also attending the summit are United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat and UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

Robleh pointed out that UNA has covered the summit since the beginning of its preparatory meetings in the Saudi capital Riyadh, including the meeting of the senior officials of the Arab Economic and Social Council, the ministerial meeting of the Economic and Social Council, the meeting of foreign ministers. He added that the Union is currently taking part in the coverage of the summit in Dhahran in a pursuit to highlight its outcome, which will contribute to serving the Arab nation and the Islamic world.

The director general shed light on the development experienced by the Union in all rehabilitation and technological aspects, in order to improve the work and tasks assigned to it to serve the Islamic Ummah. He also noted the support extended to the Union by the government of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with the view to achieving its desired role.
