Sudan’s Bashir: Istanbul Summit reaffirms solidarity with Palestine against Israeli arrogance

Istanbul (UNA) Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir said the gathering of the leaders of Islamic states at the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine, in Istanbul on Friday, reaffirmed their support for Palestine's people and leadership against the Israeli arrogance.

In his address to the summit, the Sudanese president underlined that the meeting also comes to renew the pledges of solidarity of the Muslim leaders with Palestine and their support for the right of the Palestinian people to determine their future.

Bashir said the decision of the United States to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the relocation of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is a support for the Israeli approach of arrogance, and a provocation against the nation of Islam and other religions. He added that the US decision also poses serious threats to the security and stability of the region, a flagrant violation of international law as well as the political and historical status of Jerusalem.

The president pointed out that the inaction of the international community and the failure of its institutions, particularly the Security Council, to take decisive measures and enforce them have led to Israel's persistence in its illegal policies and practices against the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, Bashir called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to halt all the violations and massacres being perpetrated by Israel against the defenseless Palestinian civilians. He also urged the United Nations to bear its responsibilities and form an independent commission to probe into the Israeli crimes against the innocent Palestinians.
