Islamabad: The Senate passed three bills on Monday, marking a significant step in the legislative process. These bills are ‘The Rights of Persons Arrested, Detained or under Custodial Investigation Bill, 2020’, ‘The Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2023’, and ‘The Fatal Accidents (Amendment) Bill, 2024’, each addressing distinct areas of governance and public interest.
According to Radio Pakistan, eight additional bills were introduced in the House. These are ‘The Pakistan Psychological Council Bill, 2025’, ‘The Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (Regulation) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Islamabad Capital Territory (Prohibition of Plastic Book Covers) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, and ‘The Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025’. These bills have been forwarded to the respective Standing Committees for further deliberation.
In addition to the legislative activity, the House passed a resolution urging the government to provide relief and compensation to families affected by the 2025 floods. This resolution, introduced by Muhammad Talha Mahmood, aims to address the needs of those impacted by the natural disaster.
The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday at 4:00 p.m., continuing its agenda of legislative review and discussion.
