Government has launched a five year crash programme for the production of best and rare quality of dates in the nine districts of South Punjab.
Project Director Date Farms, Muhammad Akhlaq told our Radio Pakistan Bahawalpur Correspondent Sajjad Parvez that under the programme in the nine districts of Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Jhang, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajan Pur gardens of rare and best quality dates will be established and free of cost plants will be provided to them.
He said that initially one hundred plants will be provided to each Gardner for plantation on an area of one acre of land which will be extended to five acres of land at later stage.
