Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said the government is placing population management and human capital development at the heart of its national economic policy. Addressing the Pakistan Population Summit virtually today, he outlined several key initiatives, including the Population Emergency Framework and the National Strategic Framework on Population and Development.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister for Planning emphasized that effective population management is fundamental to the success of the Uraan Pakistan initiative. He also highlighted that countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam, Iran, and Indonesia achieved rapid prosperity by aligning their population policies with economic strategies, women’s empowerment, and educational reforms. He said Pakistan is now taking decisive steps in this direction.
He mentioned that through the Ministry of National Health Services and provincial departments, the focus is on expanding access to modern contraceptives, enhancing community outreach, improving provincial service delivery, and implementing behavior change communication strategies.
