Pakistan Urges Sustained Dialogue for Peace in Bosnia


Islamabad: At the United Nations Pakistan has called for sustained dialogue and adherence to the peace agreement in Bosnia and Herzegovina.



According to Radio Pakistan, the call was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a Security Council Debate on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that lasting peace, stability, and development for all peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina can be best achieved by adhering to the principles enshrined in the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.



Ambassador Ahmad expressed Pakistan’s support for Bosnia’s right, as a sovereign state, to choose its partnerships and path toward integration into regional, political, and economic organizations. He highlighted the importance of a constructive, forward-looking, and inclusive dialogue among all political actors and entities to further advance the process of internal reforms.



The Ambassador reiterated that Pakistan enjoys warm and fraternal ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina and its people. He reaffirmed national support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, firmly opposing any rhetoric or actions that could undermine these principles.
