Pakistan Urges Afghan Interim Government to Honor International Obligations

New york: At the United Nations, Pakistan has called upon the Afghan interim government to uphold their international obligations and commitments. Pakistan’s Counsellor Muhammad Jawad Ajmal emphasized the importance of a stable and prosperous Afghanistan for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, Muhammad Jawad Ajmal, speaking during an Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, highlighted the significant threat terrorism emanating from Afghanistan poses to Pakistan’s national security and the safety of its citizens. He asserted that Pakistan, like any sovereign nation, will exercise its right and duty to regulate its borders and will not compromise on its national security.

Ajmal further elaborated on the presence of terrorist entities, including ISIL-K, TTP Fitna Al Khwarij, BLA, and Majeed Group, which operate from Afghan sanctuaries. These groups utilize terrorist camps as hubs to facilitate cross-border infiltration and attacks. He expressed serious concern over the Taliban’s discriminatory policies, practices, and restrictive measures that continue to exclude women and girls from accessing their right to education and employment.
