Pakistan calls for working with Afghan Govt to stabilize country

At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for working with new Interim government of Afghanistan to stabilize its economy and ensure regional peace.

Addressing the UN Security Council's session, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said the new mandate for the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan must be based on respect for the war-torn country's sovereignty.

Munir Akram urged the international community to work to stabilize Afghanistan and ensure durable peace in the region by addressing the massive humanitarian crisis and preventing the collapse of the Afghan economy.
