Pakistan and UK Agree to Strengthen Cooperation in Law Enforcement


Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have reached an agreement to enhance their cooperation in several key areas, including police training, extradition, immigration, and efforts to curb human trafficking. This understanding was formed during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Director General of the British National Crime Agency, Graeme Biggar, held in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting also saw both parties agreeing on the early finalization of five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at bolstering cooperation in extradition and other critical areas. Additionally, the two sides committed to enhancing mutual cooperation in training courses for officers from various agencies, such as the Anti-Narcotics Force and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.



The discussions further led to an agreement on effective coordination to combat online harassment of children, highlighting a shared commitment to tackling pressing social issues. Graeme Biggar, the DG of the British National Crime Agency, condemned the recent suicide attack in Islamabad and expressed his condolences for the lives lost. He also praised Pakistan’s efforts in narcotics control and emphasized the UK’s continued cooperation with the Pakistani government in various fields.



Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reiterated Pakistan’s resilience in the face of terrorism and emphasized the role of modern training and forensic techniques in enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement agencies.
