Nepra allows tariff hike of 32 paisa per unit to KESC

Karachi: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has allowed a tariff hike of 32 paisa per unit to the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) under the monthly fuel adjustment mechanism for generating electricity through furnace oil in June.

According to Alfalah Securities Limited, KESC claimed that the power generation cost through furnace oil has increased by PkR 1.61/unit and demanded an increase of 0.64 paisa per unit. However, Nepra not considering the request of KESC has allowed only a 32 paisa per unit tariff hike which would be passed on to the consumers in the bills of August.
