National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and GIZ to Sign Agreement for Grant of 42.4million Euros
Islamabad: A signing ceremony of the agreement for a grant of 42.4 million Euros between National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and German Development Agency GIZ is going to be held tomorrow Wednesday 14-09-2011 at 2.30pm in the Auditorium of Prime Minister House. Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will be the Chief Guest of the ceremony.
The NAVTTC, through Economic Affairs Division and in consultation with the provincial stakeholders has negotiated a technical assistance program with the European Union, Governments of Netherland and Germany who have contributed above mentioned grant. The Program will be executed by NAVTTC in collaboration with the German Development Agency, GIZ over a period of five years.
The Program primarily aimed at implementation of the National Skills Strategy 2009-13. More over the Curricula and Skill Standards for Technical and Vocational Education and Training will be redesigned and redeveloped according to national and international requirements and standards for the Provincial Technical Education and Vocational Authorities (TEVTAs) and other training institutes/centres throughout the country.
Resultantly millions of jobless and unskilled youth will be prepared as skilled manpower that may bring a revolution of socio- economic development in the country and will also cater to international needs as well.
It is pertinent to mention here that National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) is an apex body of the country. It is a national regulatory authority to address the challenges of Technical and Vocational Training in the country in collaboration with international donor agencies.
All national and international stakeholders i.e. heads of international donor agencies, diplomats, heads of TEVTAs etc. have been invited to witness the signing ceremony. Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Minister for Professional and Technical Education Commission Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Chairman NAVTTC Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon will also speak on this occasion.
