NA Briefed on Initiatives for Enhancing Pakistan’s Digital Infrastructure


Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed today that a series of initiatives have been undertaken to attract both international and domestic partners for the development of Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. Parliamentary Secretary for Information Technology Sabheen Ghoury addressed the house during the question hour, highlighting efforts to advance enabling regulatory frameworks and infrastructure sharing guidelines to incentivize investment in digital infrastructure.



According to Radio Pakistan, Ghoury emphasized the establishment of twenty Software Technology Parks across various cities nationwide, positioning them as growth engines for the IT sector. She mentioned ongoing projects for IT Parks in Karachi and Islamabad. The Pakistan Software Export Board has reportedly completed six projects aimed at improving IT exports through a skilled workforce.



The parliamentary secretary informed the house about the National Cyber Security Act’s initial draft, which is under consideration with key stakeholders. A central entity will be established under this act to implement cyber security measures.



Sabheen Ghoury also noted the government’s provision of financial and technical assistance to promote startup companies across Pakistan. Additionally, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal discussed the integration of climate resilience and adaptation strategies into long-term development planning.



In other developments, the National Assembly passed several amendment bills, including the Pakistan Army Amendment Bill, 2025, Pakistan Air Force Amendment Bill 2025, Pakistan Navy Amendment Bill 2025, and Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Amendment Bill 2025. The Law Minister clarified that these amendments are updates to existing laws to align them with the 27th constitutional amendment. The House also passed the Domestic Violence Prevention and Protection Bill, 2025.
