A number of Palestinians were injured after the Israeli soldiers opened fire on their demonstration against the US decision to end its funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Nabil Diab, a higher committee member of the Great March of Return, said the protest expressed the people's reply to the unfair US decision.

He added that the US administration's latest decisions showed that they don't seek a solution, but they are complicating the situation so they can pass the so-called "deal of the century.

Palestinians won't cave in and will continue their steadfastness and struggle, he said.

On September 1, the US announced ending its funding to the UNRWA, which is tasked with supporting Palestinian refugees.

The US has long been the largest single donor to UNRWA, donating more than $350 million to the agency in 2017.

The agency offers educational, health and social services across the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon to more than five million registered Palestinian refugees.
