Islamabad High Court bars Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry from announcing election results
Islamabad, September 18, 2012 (PPI-OT): A single bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred the election commission of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) from announcing results of the elections.
Justice Noor-Ul-Haq N. Qureshi of the IHC has also asked the Directorate General of Trade Organisations (DG TO) to probe the election process and the complaints and report back to court within fifteen days.
According to the details Shakeel Aziz, Founder Vice Chairman, All Traders Welfare Association, Blue Area, Islamabad invoked the high court through Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta praying that a group has taken over ICCI which has introduced dictatorship in the chamber.
That influential group would never allow opponents and prefer selection over election which is not only against the rules and regulations but an insult to all the members of the chamber, Mr. Aziz said in his petition.
He furthered that despite thousands of members, the election process is completed in lesst than an hour which amounts to deception.
The court after listening arguments, issued order barring ICCI from announcing results of the election and directed DGTO to look into the complaint and furnish findings in the court within fifteen days.
