ISLAMABAD: Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain announced plans to transform the federal capital into a model city, aligning with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's vision. The announcement was made during the 4th meeting on the Electric Vehicles Policy in Islamabad, where he emphasized the role of electric vehicles in achieving this goal. According to Radio Pakistan, the minister instructed the Capital Development Authority to ensure the installation of electric charging stations at all petrol pumps across Islamabad. This initiative aims to support the growing number of electric vehicles and promote sustainable transportation within the city. In a move to encourage academic excellence and the adoption of electric transport, Rana Tanveer Hussain revealed that the government would award free electric bikes to the top 120 students of the Federal Board. Furthermore, the policy includes the subsidized provision of 39,000 electric bikes and 119 electric rickshaws to residents, aimin g to make electric vehicles more accessible. The meeting also reviewed the progress of installing 40 electric charging stations along major roads and motorways, indicating ongoing efforts to expand the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles.
