Delegation of Shaheed Bhutto Foundation and Benazir Democracy Institute meet the Prime Minister
Islamabad: A delegation consisting members of Shaheed Bhutto Foundation and Benazir Democracy Institute led by Governor Khyber Pukhtoonkhawa, Barrister Masood Kausar called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at PM’s House here today and apprised him about the contributions the two Organizations have been rendering since their inception for the promotion of the cause of democracy within and outside the country.
The Prime Minister was apprised that one of the main objectives of the Foundation was to facilitate the institutionalization of democratic norms at various levels of the society and struggle for strengthening of democracy and democratic institutions in Pakistan. The institute strives to provide social services access to enhance the ability of the people through personal behaviour to attain optimal human capital and development.
The members of the delegation appreciated the promulgation of Political Parties Act in FATA and the amended FCR adding that the two historic steps would pave the way for the political parties to mobilize the people enabling them to play their proactive role in the national and FATA politics.
The members of the delegation informed the Prime Minister that the International organizations dealing with human rights and promotion of democracy have lauded the work of Shaheed Bhutto Foundation and the Benazir Democracy Institute.
The Prime Minister appreciated the two Organizations and said that he would help in all possible way to facilitate their functioning.
The meeting was attended by the Presidential Spokesman, Mr. Farhatullah Babar and President of the Cabinet of the Shaheed Bhutto Foundation, Dr. Syed Kamal. Minister for Religious Affairs, Syed Khursheed Shah was also present during the meeting.
