Christians celebrate Easter across country

Like everywhere in the world, Christian community in Pakistan also celebrated their annual religious festival of Easter on Sunday.

Special services were hosted at different places across the country where the believers attended prayers for salvation and for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

Police have made special security arrangements across the country to provide security cover to minority communities on their special prayers.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended best wishes and greetings to Christian community on the occasion of Easter.

In his message on Sunday, he said great deal of love and devotion to Hazrat Isa AS is common between Christians and Muslims.

The Prime Minister said Christian community has played a historic role at every stage from the creation to development of Pakistan.

He said Christian community in Pakistan has rendered extraordinary services in all fields including education, health and defense.

Shehbaz Sharif said all non-Muslim Pakistanis, including the Christian community, are our proud asset and strength.

He said we are committed to ensure development, welfare and provision of constitutional rights to our non-Muslim Pakistanis.

He appealed for special prayers for the development of Pakistan, promotion of peace and love in the world, and elimination of conflicts and hatred.

Sindh Minister for Minority Affairs Gianchand Esrani also extended greetings to the Christian community on the occasion of Easter. He said the Christian community of the country is celebrating it with freedom and religious fervour.

He further said Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has always taken measures for the protection of minorities' rights.

Gianchand said Easter "teaches us to move on the path to sacrifice, forgiveness and affection."
