All Pakistan Newspaper Society concerned over kidnapping of Journalist
Karachi: The All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) expressed its grave concern over the kidnapping of senior reporter of Daily Ausaf, Mr. Rahmatullah Darpakhel in North Waziristan and urged upon the authorities in the tribal area to put best efforts in the safe recovery of the journalist, stated a press release of the APNS.
The President and Office Bearers of the APNS in a statement, strongly denounced the kidnapping of the journalist from Miran Shah by a group of armed persons on Thursday, August 11, 2011 who remained missing till today. Meanwhile, on August 14, a journalist, in Khuzdar, Mr. Munir Ahmad Shakir was murdered by unknown assailants.
The APNS noted that the incidents of kidnapping, torture and murders of journalists have increased manifold while the law enforcing agencies have failed to book any of the culprits in such heinous crimes. These journalists at the risk of their lives are performing their professional duties and required state protection.
The APNS is concerned about the safety of Rahmatullah and urge upon the local authorities to vigorously investigate his kidnapping and take action for recovery of the journalist. The APNS also requested the Balochistan government to investigate in the matter and arrest the elements involved in the killing of Mr. Munir Ahmad Shakir.
