Pakistan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission meeting underway in Islamabad

Pak-Russian 8th meeting of technical consultations of Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation is underway on second consecutive day on Thursday in Islamabad.

During the session, areas of technical consultations including trade and investment, agriculture, energy, customs, and industry will be discussed.

Other areas of consultation including education, science, technology, information and communication technologies, and finance will also be deliberated upon. The technical teams will finalize the protocol as well.

On the sidelines of the session, business to business forum discussions will also be held.

The session aims at reviewing the existing areas of cooperation and finding new opportunities for further deepening the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia.

Masood calls for boosting tech sector linkages b/w Pakistan, US

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Masood Khan says Punjab-California Sister Province Agreement provides a model to establish domain-specific state-to-province, city-to-city economic linkages between Pakistan and the United States.

He stated this while talking to Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan in Washington DC.

The Ambassador said the tech-startups of Pakistan, manned by enterprising youth, and a vibrant tech sector of Irvine, California, could forge strong partnerships for not only meeting the economic needs of the two sides but also to strengthen people-to-people exchanges.

The Ambassador said that Farrah N. Khan’s leadership qualities and successes make Pakistan and Pakistani diaspora in the United States proud.

He said that Pak-origin Americans, who have excelled in their respective areas, were not only an asset for Pakistan but an abiding link between Pakistan and the United States.

Farrah Khan thanked the Ambassador for warmly receiving her and highlighted tech, Medi-tech and artificial intelligence as the major sectors where Irvine was witnessing significant progress.

Farrah Khan also highlighted the valuable contributions being made by Pakistani diaspora towards socio-economic development of Irvine and the state of California.

The Ambassador invited Mayor Farrah Khan to visit Pakistan along with a business delegation for promoting cooperation between chamber and industry and to strengthen people-to-people linkages.

Pakistan, China agree to enhance cooperation in tourism sector

Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance cooperation in the tourism sector and increase flow of tourists from both sides.

The understanding was reached during a high-level meeting at China Embassy in Islamabad, which discussed the promotion of bilateral tourism between the two countries.

The Pakistan side was represented in the meeting by Advisor to Prime Minister on Tourism and Sports Awn Chaudhry and Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, Aftab-ur-Rehman Rana while the Chinese side was represented by Charge de’ affairs of the Embassy Pang Chunxue.

The two sides held discussion on improving facilitation for the tourists on both sides to enhance people-to-people contact during the current year which has been declared by both countries to be celebrated as China-Pakistan Year of Tourism Exchange.

FM Bilawal, Saudi counterpart vow to further deepen bilateral ties

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reiterated their resolve to further deepen bilateral cooperation in all areas.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Both foreign ministers reaffirmed the historic and deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its long-standing support to Pakistan.

Sharing pictures of the meeting on his twitter handle, the Foreign Minister said he was delighted to meet his Saudi counterpart.

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, the Foreign Minister also held a meeting with his Finish counterpart Pekka Haavisto and discussed bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Foreign Minister appreciated Finland for its support at Resilient Pakistan Conference in Geneva.

Both sides resolved to further enhance bilateral relations, particularly in trade, energy and education sector.
