Sudanese defense minister meets Egyptian counterpart in Cairo

Cairo (IINA) � Sudanese Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Awad Mohamed Ahmed Bin Aouf met here on Sunday with his Egyptian counterpart Gen. Sidgi Subhi, Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported.

The two sides held a round of talks focused on regional and international developments and their repercussions on the stability in the region. They also discussed other issues of mutual interest for the two countries.

During the meeting, Subhi emphasized the depth of the Sudanese-Egyptian relations, pointing to the cooperation between the two countries in the face of the challenges in the region, as well as the efforts to boost regional security and stability.

For his part, the Sudanese defense minister affirmed the strong bonds linking the two countries, saying Sudan is keen on enhancing partnership and cooperation with Egypt in all domains. He also praised Egypt's efforts and leading role in maintaining peace and security and fighting terrorism and extremism in Africa.

According to SUNA, the meeting was attended by Egypt's Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Hegazy and a number of Egyptian military leaders besides the Sudanese ambassador to Egypt.
