Israeli police kill 3 Palestinians near Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem

Jerusalem (IINA) � Israeli police shot dead three Palestinians in Jerusalem on Friday, claiming that the trio carried out an armed attack near the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

According to a statement by the Israeli police, the attack at the medieval Lion's Gate of Al-Aqsa Mosque left two policemen critically injured and a third one moderately wounded. It added that the Palestinian attackers fled the scene toward the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, where an exchange of fire took place between them and the Israeli police.

Two police officers were critically injured while a third one was hurt by shrapnel and is out of danger, police said.

Following the shooting, Israeli police cleared Al-Aqsa Mosque and closed it for worshippers. Friday prayers were also cancelled at the Mosque.
