Government taking far reaching steps for development and promotion of value-added sector which can play a vital role in increasing exports: Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi

Multan, May 20, 2015 (PPI-OT): Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, Chairman of All Pakistan Bedsheet and Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA) said that Present Government was taking far-reaching steps for the development and promotion of value-added sector which can play a vital role in increasing the exports. He was addressing a joint session of officers of State Bank, local Commercial banks and member of APBUMA here today.

Roomi said that value added sector can contribute to the national economy if the trade facilitation and liberalization be ensured through improving export competitiveness and reduce the cost of doing business. To achieve higher market access for Pakistani products in foreign markets with the aim of increasing our share of export in the global trade, the Government would have to take some far-reaching steps and drastic measures.

He said that it was a good augury that facility of draw backs would continue in coming years. Muhammad Arshad a foreign exchange officer of SBP said that all claims of draw backs are decided keeping in view the available funds. Now we are paying attention towards the payment of August 2011 claims and these would be cleared during the current month.

He said that the federal government had extended the date for submission of claims for Drawback of Local Taxes and Levies Order, 2015 till May 15. Muhammad Arshad briefed the participants that ministry of textiles has issued a notice Notification No. 1(41) TID/14-RDA dated October 22, 2014, which clearly states that such exporters whose exports would be 10 percent more than 2013-14 would be entitled to get claim of one percent on processed fabrics, 2 % on made-ups and 4 % on garments. Shiraz Hassan, Syed Muhammad Aasim Shah Ex-Chairman of APBUMA also spoke.
