Asia – Africa Business Summit opens new avenues for economic development

Karachi, May 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Asia-Africa Business Summit opened a new chapter in the struggle of developing countries for economic development through enhancing and strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations. This was stated by Waseem Vohra, Vice President FPCCI who attended the Business Summit and led 21 members business delegation from Pakistan. He further said that this was a trans-continental gathering and the leaders of both continents including head of states emphasized on a new global order that is open to emerging economic powers and leaves the obsolete economic visions.

Waseem Vohra informed that the importance of the said event can be witnessed with the fact that the Asia-Africa Business Summit was attended by 600 businessmen—400 from 34 foreign countries and 200 from Indonesia along with head of states prominently Indonesian President, Chinese Premier, Japanese Prime Minister and government officials from various countries.

He informed that during his key note addressed he highlighted the investment opportunities in Pakistan. He said that trade with Africa was at present still relatively small, but it could increase by two to three times. He signed a joint declaration on the establishment of “Asia Africa Business Council (AABC)” on behalf of Pakistan Business Community.

While presenting the potential of investment in Pakistan during Business Summit, he explained that Pakistan is now gradually coming out from crises zone and law and order situation have been controlled after the army operation. He motivated the private and public sector of both continents to invest in Pakistan and neglect the propaganda against Pakistan in Western Media, as “Pakistan is a big country and cannot fit in a television box”, he added.
